Biography

Dean Laochamroonvorapongse '03 is a Premedical student majoring in Economics at Williams College. He assisted Dr. David Elpern this summer in developing and updating the VGR-D website. VGR-D is Dean's first web project; in preparation for it, he has learned how to use Dreamweaver 3, Photoshop 5.5 and ImageReady 2.0, along with basic HTML. He still has many other things to learn. Born in New York City and raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey, Dean is a 1999 graduate of East Brunswick High School. His parents are ethnic Chinese born and raised in Thailand, so he speaks Thai at home with his grandmother. He has a older brother who will be a senior at the University of Chicago. On campus, he the Coordinator of the Chinese American Student Organization (CASO) and Treasurer of Asian American Students in Action (AASiA); in addition, he is a certified radio DJ for WCFM 91.9. In August, Dean will be a facilitator for the Windows on Williams (WOW) minority orientation program. Academically, he has started learning Mandarin Chinese; in January 2001 he went to Taiwan to study Chinese as a Winter Study project. In Janurary 2002, he will be in Havana studying healthcare and public policy. In his free time, Dean enjoys reading fiction, playing video games, and playing squash. He has the longest surname in the history of Williams College.
